“Uplifting Voices” Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop

Honoring hip-hop’s 50th anniversary and working alongside an engaging curriculum design, Dr. Myers hosted a panel of Michigan legends. The panel really gave students an amazing background for thinking about hip hop’s contribution to community-building, empowerment, and joy. 42PointSEVEN student practitioners learn about cultural resilience

Students of 42PointSEVEN integrated marketing communication agency recently had the opportunity to see how research can be translated into everyday practice during a recent demonstration by Assistant Professor Ed Timke. The demonstration session introduced students to the Culturally Resilient Training Card Deck developed through research conducted by Timke in collaboration with instructional designer and intercultural specialist, Terra Gargano, who is also Professorial Lecturer and Program Director at American University in Washington, D.C.

During the demonstration and discussion, students engaged in exercises that helped them build awareness of perspectival differences in solving problems in teams. Student practitioners also reflected on questions and prompts provided on the cards, and their applicability to their strategic and creative work within the agency.
